city and its greater area, archives of old industrial enterprises,
as well as important material of building plans, maps, aerial
photos, transparencies and photos.
The
library of Volos's Municipal Center for History and Documentation
started operating in 1992, its aim being the collection,
administration, utilization and promotion of any kind or
form of printed documents.
As part of the continual effort to record and document
the historical physiognomy of town and prefecture, the 13th
issue of En Volo is released with a special on publishing
in Magnesia.
In the special, under the supervision of philology professor
Vera Vasardani, is attempted to present all the important
events in the publishing history of Volos and its environs
from 1881 to the present. Through the pages of the special,
newspapers, magazines, and books are presented, as they
happen to emerge from numerous different fields and disciplines:
the private sector, social clubs, guilds of various professionals,
local government, the teaching and academic community.
Also presented are topics of the local typography, printed
advertisement material and the most important post card
publishers in Magnesia.
In the permanent -exclusive of special- columns the reader
will find a narrative by Panagiotis Katsirelos in Literature,
the philology professor Ioanna Papazafeiri in Personalities,
post cards and printed advertisement material from the collection
of Stavros Mpatoudakis in Memento, while a detailed index
of the magazine's articles for the year 2003 appears in
the annually published supplement Euretirio.
